About Us

Who are we?

We’re just a friendly group of cross-country and back-country ski enthusiasts. The ski club is based in Albuquerque, NM. The club has about 250 members of a range of ages, skiing abilities and skiing interests. In addition to skiing, the group has historically had a few social events each year such as a winter holiday dessert pot luck, summer picnic and New Year’s party in Silverton, Colorado, for all members.

What do we do?

We organize ski tours, ranging from flat and easy to climbing mountains and skiing down. We also provide instruction for beginning cross-country, intermediate, telemark, and back-country skiers.

Club members organize local day ski tours near Albuquerque, typically in the Sandias, Jemez or Santa Fe areas. The club also charters buses for trips to Colorado. On these trips we stay in hotels and lead a variety of day tours, ranging from easy to AT skiing.  We also organize overnight carpooling trips to Colorado. Some members prefer remote back-country skiing, including multi-day trips to huts of the 10th Mountain Division Huts and other hut systems.

We hold monthly meetings October through March with guest speakers and refreshments. In the summertime we conduct ski trail maintenance and hike ski trails for fun and exercise. Families and new skiers are welcome.
