Telemark Instruction

If you want to get on the steep part of the telemark learning curve, it is hard to beat the controlled environment of a ski resort. You might feel guilty ascending mountains riding a chairlift (you shouldn’t because you bought a lift ticket), but all that saved thigh-burning energy can instead be utilized for the tele lesson. At a New Mexico or Colorado ski resort, the group will ski runs together, learning as they go. Back-country tours on powdery slopes are lots of fun and another great opportunity to practice telemark turns. Each winter the ski club also has backcountry tours in Colorado’s steeper terrain.
